David Gushee wrote at length about the gender debate raging in many evangelical circles. His article today is a thoughtful dissection of the history and structure of the issue. I recommend taking the time to work through the article, especially the section about the construct of social norms and its application to this conversation.
In controversial matters we benefit from listening to all sides make their case in their own words. I hope you won't dismiss Dr. Gushee before you understand his points.
