This college football season was special for me. It was the first year that my entire family, read that as my daughter actually paid attention and cared about it, watched the games together. My sons have been doing so for years, and my wife would watch if it was a big game or Georgia was lining up for another beat down, but with the addition of the youngest Hodges to fandom we are now a football family.
There is one down side to my daughter's new found fanishness, it costs me money. The boys would watch a game and then we would talk about it for a day or so, no harm done. But the daughter wanted to watch the game and then hit Bama Fever at the mall the next morning for GameDay shirts and various other memorabilia....for EVERY game. By the end of the season she could wear a different Crimson Tide shirt to school each day leading up to a game. Come to think about it, she could have worn one shirt to school and changed to another one after lunch.
Last night we had a few folks over for the championship game. The daughter, as she is often called, was decked out in all her Bama glory, including team logo face paint stickers, hair clips, and a Nic Chick pin. I guess it's good to get her, I mean my, money's worth.
I know exactly when she became a true fan...at the Tennessee game when Terrance Cody blocked a field goal to seal the win as time expired. The stadium exploded. The Daughter was jumping on the bleachers in front of us, pompoms waving high, yelling Rammer Jammer with all her fifteen year old lungs could give. Good times.
