Clergy Abuse

With all the courses I took in college and seminary, I never once had a class in clergy abuse. By "clergy abuse" I mean abuse done to clergy, not abuse by clergy.

With all the stories I've heard from friends and colleagues about how they were mistreated by churches and church members, I would think Bible colleges and seminaries would at least have one class on the subject.

If a course could not be dedicated to clergy abuse perhaps a portion of some kind of pastoral ministry class could be given to the topic of churches abusing their ministers. I would like to see a class digging into the dynamics of churches that abuse.

Don't misunderstand me here, I'm not whining. I've served four churches and have only good things to say about my tenure with each church. But I've heard, and to some degree witnessed, churches and church members doing some awful thing to their ministers.

If you want to share a story with me, please post or send me an e-mail.

The answer to clergy abuse is not a seminary class. It is within every true Christian. "It" is a "He". The indwelling Spirit of Christ. His purpose, His power, and His peace.
